Sous le regard lucide du jeune étranger Gustave Verniory, se dessine un espace cinématographique sensible, une dérive entre ‘paysage humain’ et ‘paysage géographique’, qui révèle l'essence profonde du territoire mapuche de l'Araucanie, conquis par l'armée chilienne à la fin du XIXe siècle.

 

Through the lucid gaze of young foreigner Gustave Verniory, a sensitive cinematographic space emerges, adrift between ‘human landscape’ and ‘geographical landscape’, revealing the conflicts that still underlie Araucania, the territory robbed from the Mapuche people by the introduction of capitalism.

Jamal Hindawi, Palestinien de 50 ans vivant dans le camp de réfugiés de Shatila à Beyrouth, fait du théâtre politique. Tout en regrettant l'absence de sa fille Hanan, étudiant au Royaume-Uni, il travaille sur une pièce centrée sur une veste symbolique de l'identité palestinienne. La veste devient un moyen pour Jamal de faire face à son passé douloureux et aux défis socio-économiques des réfugiés palestiniens au Liban. Un véritable périple à travers le paysage transformateur de Beyrouth.

 

Jamal Hindawi, a 50-year-old Palestinian living in Beirut's Shatila refugee camp, engages in political theatre. While missing his daughter Hanan studying in the UK, he works on a play about a symbolic Palestinian identity jacket. The jacket becomes a means for Jamal to confront his painful past and the socio-economic challenges of Palestinian refugees in Lebanon. A real journey unfolds through the transformative landscape of Beirut.

Á 19 ans, Elias quitte son village pour vivre à Marseille. Hébergé dans un appartement terne par une grand-mère qu’il ne connaît pas, il y fait la rencontre d'un oncle dont il ignorait l’existence. Parti pour vivre sa vie d’adulte, il s’accroche malgré tout à l'appartement familial comme à un territoire, révélant au contact de ces proches retrouvés une nature sombre, cherchant davantage à prendre l’espace à son compte.

 

At 19, Elias leaves his village to live in Marseille. Hosted in a dull apartment by a grandmother he doesn't know, he encounters an uncle whose existence was unknown to him. Despite setting out to live his adult life, he clings to the family apartment as a territory, revealing, in the presence of these rediscovered relatives, a dark nature that seeks to assert itself in the space.

Contrairement aux tribunaux, les bushiningués résolvent ces conflits par des débats contradictoires traditionnels, mais les tensions montent, entraînant des violences des deux côtés

 

Marcus and Viviane, bushininginués living on an island in the Maroni River in Guyana, are resisting the eviction of their village by the island's owner, despite their families having lived there for generations. In contrast to legal proceedings, bushiningués resolve such conflicts through traditional adversarial debates, yet tensions are escalating, leading to violence on both sides.
